I did a quick search for the top issue described and couldn't find anything. I wouldn't think that MS would spend any more energy on XP, especially during their push for another OS. But I guess it's entirely possible for something to to get through if they don't take much engineer effort to get them posted e.g. simple file updates. As far as legitimacy, I can't imagine someone getting malicious updates into that update process but I guess it's possible. @webfork Thanks for looking up this mystifier ! Hope you are right
about this phantom Security Updates bona fide legitimacy, ...especially considering the bloody thing eventually installed itself anyway without asking... No adverse effect detected so far, fingers crossed... BTW, I never installed the registry hack to get XP Embedded support on the sly...maybe I should have ?... Re: Win XP Security updates for 2022 ?#7 Post by Midas » Tue Jan 18, 2022 5:45 am
I would have -- one way or the other, you paid for it and it's not like it's being actively supported... Re: Win XP Security updates for 2022 ?#9 Post by __philippe » Wed Jan 19, 2022 2:18 am
