Show Its official Philippine launch is still a month away, but Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has just released the full specs of its much-awaited 2023 Xpander MPV. Already posted on its official website, the refreshed Xpander comes in three variants for the 2023 model year: the GLX MT, GLX AT, and GLS AT. All variants carry the updated front grille and bumper design, T-shaped headlights, T-shaped taillights, and two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels. All variants also get a 7-inch touchscreen display audio system with a rear camera too. Separating the top-of-the-line GLS, it gets LED DRLs and a new dashboard design with soft-padded material which Mitsubishi calls, “Horizontal Axis.” For 2023, all Xpander MPVs come with a carryover powertrain. This means a 1.5-liter (4A91) paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Maximum output is rated at 104.5 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, while maximum torque is at 141 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Nonetheless, it does have an improved suspension system with a more rigid mounting point for the front strut and increased cylinder size of the rear shock absorber. Together with high-performance valves, it should equate to a flatter handling and improved ride. In terms of safety, all variants benefit from dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, while the GLS adds an electronic parking brake with auto hold as well as Mitsubishi’s Active Stability Control (ASC) + Traction Control (TCL) system. As for pricing, MMPC is offering the 2023 Xpander with a hefty introductory discount until April 30, 2022. This represents P 72,000 to P 82,000 worth of savings. This brings down the prices of the Xpander to:
And these prices come with a two-year free periodic maintenance service and interior disinfection package as well.

When Mitsubishi Motors unveiled the refreshed Xpander globally in 2021, there was some visible confusion as to why its SUV-derivative, the Xpander Cross didn’t get the same slew of changes. While it did see a minor update, it didn’t get the aggressive new front fascia. Apparently, the Japanese carmaker just bided their time as two years later, they have finally unveiled the 2023 Xpander Cross. Like the refreshed Xpander, the 2023 Xpander Cross features the newest iteration of the Dynamic Shield face which is now connected to a more aggressive front clip. The bumpers are now chunkier, while the re-shaped fender flares ride over the new 17-inch alloy wheels. All in all, the re-design looks to befit its SUV-like positioning. It also happens to get the same T-shaped head- and taillights lit by LEDs. The front fog lights are now lit by LEDs as well. In terms of colors, Green Bronze Metallic joins Quartz White Pearl, Jet Black Mica, Blade Silver Metallic, and Graphite Gray Metallic. Inside, the 2023 Xpander Cross builds on the 2022 update by getting an 8-inch digital gauge cluster and four-spoke steering wheel seemingly borrowed from the Montero Sport. It also gets a wireless device charger and a high-efficiency air filter. The rest of the cabin carries over from the new horizontal dashboard with soft-touch padded material, the black/blue color scheme, and leather seats covered with Heat Guard technology. As for safety, the Xpander Cross gains Active Yaw Control (AYC) allowing it to selectively apply the inside wheels when cornering to reduce understeer. It also comes a 360-degree camera along with standard ABS with EBD and stability control. Mechanically, the 2022 Xpander Cross is the same as the revamped Xpander. It uses the tried-and-tested 1.5-liter (4A91) with 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque mated to a CVT with a built-in shift logic. For the suspension, the rigidity of the front strut mounting part is improved, and the cylinder size of the rear shock absorber is expanded, while high-performance valves are newly adopted at both the front and rear to provide a smooth and comfortable ride. With the 2023 Xpander Cross built in Indonesia, they are the first market to get it first. It is very likely that it will make its way to the Philippines in the coming months. Who know, perhaps it could make a surprise appearance at the Philippine International Motor Show in September? Will there be an Xpander Cross 2023?Apparently, the Japanese carmaker just bided their time as two years later, they have finally unveiled the 2023 Xpander Cross. Like the refreshed Xpander, the 2023 Xpander Cross features the newest iteration of the Dynamic Shield face which is now connected to a more aggressive front clip.
Which is better Xpander or Xpander Cross?Due to the cladding, the Xpander Cross is a bit larger than the regular Xpander. It is 25 mm longer, 50 mm wider, and 50 mm taller. It also has a 225 mm ground clearance, which is also a fair bit more than the regular Xpander's 205 mm. This is thanks to a slightly different suspension tune and the larger wheels.
Is Xpander Cross 2023 available in the Philippines? The 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander is now on sale across all dealers nationwide at the following prices: GLX M/T: P1,030,000. GLX A/T: P1,090,000. GLS A/T: P1,160,000.
