Cài windows xp lỗi setup cannot copy the file năm 2024

When installing XP Pro 32bit, I go through the process, press F6 to install 3rd party drivers, press S, insert floppy, and install the driver for a 32 bit system.

Show

Windows continues the install, but eventually gives the error:

setup cannot copy the file: ahcix86.inf

At this point I can retry, skip the file, or restart. retry and skip both fail, so I'm dead in the water.

Checked to make sure the file is on the floppy, it is. Downloaded it directly from Gigabyte's site, also tried downloading the entire drivers CD (~80MB) and pulled the right files out of that (in case Gigabyte had some bad files). This failed as well.

I tried putting the drivers CD in my laptop to pull the files off of it, but it starts auto installing and blue screens my laptop in just a few seconds. So, I couldn't access any of the files on the manufacturer's CD using my laptop.

Searched the forums and on the internet, but couldn't find anything help. Contacted Gigabyte's help, but have not received an answer yet.

Any thoughts? (please keep it simple, I'm a n00b with this sort of stuff, a friend built the original computer for me:P )

Thanks!

See comments by Van Nugent at http://www.compuhelpforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23127.

There is no need to install drivers from a floppy using F6, as long as you initially set your BIOS so that SATA drives are viewed as IDE when installing XP.

Your BIOS takes care of that, simplifying the install of XP.

If you are not running a RAID...there is no reason to install drivers during the XP install process.

Thanks for the link.

I'm still having trouble though. I used nlite to make a new disk with the drivers that Gigabyte's help center sent me. The CPU won't even begin with this disk.

It shows:

Boot from CD/DVD:

NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Using the actual windows CD I can get to the point of loading drivers from the floppy, but I get errors such as:

File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (1024) at line 1747 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c

Press any key to continue.

or

File \x86\ahcix.86.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 18. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

The only other thing I can think of trying is a new floppy drive and disks, but the disks work fine in my laptop and the drive worked previous and seems to still function. I don't know if a floppy can react to loading commands but corrupt the files during access.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Tried moving the memory all around the different slots, no difference.

Would setting the latencies and other optimizations for the ram make a difference?

Guess that means both of my ram sticks are bad, either that or all 4 slots on the motherboard are bad.

Guess I'll head back to FRYs and try to get the stuff exchanged. Thanks for the help!

I tried doing the nLite thing again, SUCCESS!

Cài windows xp lỗi setup cannot copy the file năm 2024

I must have messed up using it the first time.

This weekend I'll tackle adding my old hard drive (with needed data, I got a new drive to rebuild the PC just to be sure I wouldn't lose anything) and see if I can set the timings right. I'm not trying to overclock or anything, just want to make sure that everything is running on all cylinders and not some default, handicapped state.
