Serum Eucerin review

I hit a landmark birthday a couple of months ago, and after passing the big "three oh!" I no longer have an excuse for avoiding anti-aging skincare.

Typically my skincare routine is very basic. I use an unperfumed cleanser, a light moisturiser, and finish with sunscreen. So introducing another step to the regime was quite exciting.

I was given Eucerin's new Hyaluron-Filler Skin Refining Serum to test out, and with promises of 'refining pores and reducing first lines', I thought this was a great introduction to this new world of wrinkle-reducing skin products my 30s would no-doubt take me to.

I'm a bit of a sucker for bottles and applicators when it comes to skincare. If it looks like the team behind the product have really thought about how their serum is going to be used then I chalk that up as a win.

Serum Eucerin review

The nifty applicator

Eucerin's Hyaluron Filler comes in a glass bottle with a pipet in the lid. What I really liked about it is that instead of those rubber tips that typically come with pipets (and that often break after a few uses), the lid has a button you press to pick up and dispense the serum. It's only a little thing but it made using it much easier.

Eucerin suggests applying the serum after cleansing but before moisturising, so that's what I did.

The product was a clear golden colour and very light weight when applied to the skin. Despite being somewhat oily, it was not greasy at all when applied (and I have normal to oily skin).

It had a nice fresh scent that wasn't overpowering.

Serum Eucerin review

The serum

After a few days I've already begun to see a difference in the smoothness of the skin. While my skin is oily, I often get dry patches along my cheeks, but my skin feels noticeably softer. It has also made my make-up look a lot more vibrant and less patchy.

The serum contains hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid and lactic acid - three active ingredients that are widely talked about for their anti-aging and skin-smoothing properties.

While it's too early to tell whether my eyebags will be banished by this serum, I will certainly be continuing with it in my skincare routine as I've already found that fine lines around the corner of my eyes seem more refined.

Eucerin Anti-pigment dual serum effectively reduces the appearance of dark spots and helps to reduce their re-appearance, adding to a renewed skin look, using a combination of Thiamidol and Hyaluronic Acid.

Thiamidol is an effective and patented ingredient that acts at the root cause of hyperpigmentation and is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, along with helping to prevent its re-appearance with regular usage, whilst Hyaluronic Acid is one of the skin's most effective moisturising substances, helping to attract and retain the skin's natural moisture.

The Eucerin anti-pigment dual serum combines both ingredients to create a light emulsion, that is clinically and dermatologically proven to reduce the appearance of dark spots and prevent their re-appearance. First signs of improvement are visible within 2 weeks, and improve continuously with regular use.

How to use

  • Apply once a day (morning or evening) to a well-cleansed face, neck and décolleté

  • Press the middle of the top of the dispenser to ensure you release the same amount of both serums. When you first use the product, you may need to push three or four times before the serums appear.

  • Gently massage into skin

  • Avoid contact with eyes

  • For best results, use in combination with Eucerin Anti-Pigment Day SPF 30, Eucerin Anti-Pigment Night and Eucerin Anti-Pigment Spot Corrector

  • Apply each product once a day. Use a maximum of four applications of products containing Thiamidol per day.

Hazards and Cautions

Eucerin Anti-Pigment Dual Serum does not protect skin from the sun. As the sun’s rays are a key contributor to hyperpigmentation it’s important to wear an appropriate sun protection product, even on cloudy days. We recommend that, if you apply Eucerin Anti-Pigment Dual Serum in the morning, you follow it with Eucerin Anti-Pigment Day SPF 30 to help fade existing acne marks and protect skin from the sun, thereby reducing further sun-induced pigmentation issues.
