a) Eggs
b) Chicken
d) Milk

Pg. 1020
Proteins

Proteins are composed of amino acids, nine of which are leucine, isoleucine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, valine, lysine, and histidine. The foods that provide these essential amino acids in adequate amounts are milk, eggs, meat, fish, and poultry. Obviously, french fries and pizza bites are not great sources of protein.

c) Diet deficient in both protein and calories

Pg. 1027-1028
Protein-Energy Malnutrition

The child's presentation is typical of marasmus, a diagnosis caused by deficiencies in protein and calorie intake. There is a progressive loss of muscle mass and fat stores with a reduction in body weight and a wasted appearance, loss of subcutaneous fat; a protuberant abdomen, wrinkled skin; sparse, dry, and dull hair; and depressed heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature. In contrast, kwashiorkor results from a deficiency in protein and is more severe form of malnutrition than marasmus. Unlike marasmus, severe protein deficiency is associated with extensive loss of the visceral protein compartment with a resultant hypoalbuminemia that gives rise to generalized or dependent edema. The child with kwashiorkor usually presents with edema (not wrinkled skin), desquamating skin, discolored hair, anorexia, and extreme apathy.

b) The fat-soluble vitamins are stored in adipose tissue and may reach toxic levels

Pg. 1021
Vitamins

The four fat-soluble vitamins are vitamins A, D, E, and K. They require dietary fat for absorption and transport. The nine water-soluble vitamins are vitamin C and the B vitamins, which are thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, vitamin B12, folate, and biotin. Because excess amounts of the water-soluble vitamins are excreted in the urine, it is less likely that they may become toxic to the body, but the fat-soluble vitamins are stored in adipose tissue and may reach toxic levels.
