Does Advanced Night Repair contain retinol

I'm spoilt for choice.

I have access to the best Australian and international skin care products available, yet there's one product that I reach for time and time again.

Sure, I occasionally enjoy cheating on it, but the affair is usually short-lived as I've learnt that there's only one serum that really lights up my complexion and gives me the best possible version of my skin.

So, what is this favourite, tried-and-tested product that my skin can't live without?

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum!

I've been using and loving this cult-classic for 10 years now, so here's my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair review.

Why do I love this product?

It is the best anti ageing night serum that I have ever used.

In fact, it's the best face serum that I have ever used, as I can use Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair during the day and night.

I love that it sinks into the skin quickly, without leaving any tackiness or oily residue.

The morning after the first night that I used it, I woke up with skin that looked plumper and more hydrated. It also looked more refreshed, after just one application and I felt good knowing that I was being proactive in also fighting the signs of ageing.

Needless to say, as a new mum at the time, who was seriously sleep deprived and had dehydrated skin from breastfeeding, I was hooked.

Fast forward 10 years, and I'm still in love.

I'm at an age where my skin would naturally start thinning a bit (aka skin ageing), yet I have not seen this with the continued use of this face serum. My skin definitely still looks plump and radiant as well as more even-toned following hyperpigmentation from pregnancy. I also saw a reduction in some of my fine lines & wrinkles.

I naturally have tight skin, and with just one dropper of this liquid gold in the morning and night, my skin feels deliciously and thoroughly hydrated and resilient. 

My skin is looking its best possible self. It glows, it looks healthy and smooth and I solely attribute these qualities to Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair as I never get facials or use face masks.

In the spirit of full disclosure, there are some nights a week where I don't use this serum (or any other skin care products) after cleansing because I'm just way too tired.

My skin is not adversely affected by this. Why? Because the new formulation of Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair has hyaluronic acid which provides 72-hour hydration. So, even if I miss an application here or there, my skin remains plump and youthful-looking anyway.

What is the science behind this serum?

As a pharmacist, I'm naturally curious about the science behind beauty products.

For one, I love that this serum was tested on all ethnicities and is suitable for all skin types.

I also love that it has been dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, which gives it credibility among the overabundance of serums that are currently available.

While we sleep, our skin repairs and regenerates itself.

When used at night time, this best anti aging serum helps to create the optimal environment for the skin's self-repair process. In vitro testing showed that this miracle worker boosts the skin's natural production of collagen and promotes the natural renewal of vital new cells.

During the day, this serum protects the skin against environmental damage.

It is packed with hyaluronic acid, which not only intensely hydrates the skin, but also strengthens it. It also now contains antioxidants which helps to defend the skin against free radical damage from pollution, blue light (hello computer screens and mobile phones), infra red and dust.

When the skin is protected from environmental stressors, it looks younger longer.

Advanced Night Repair Ingredients

While the exact formula is patent-protected, what I do know is that it contains hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, soothing ingredients such as bisabolol (the main component of chamomile), as well as caffeine and some fermented ingredients in the form of post-biotics.

What also excites me is that the formula is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates and mineral oil.

Oh, and the bottle is now recyclable!

How to Apply Advanced Night Repair

Step 1. Always cleanse your face first, then apply the serum before moisturising.

To experience the full benefits of this serum, I use it twice a day, in my AM & PM skincare routine.

Step 2. I warm one drop of serum in my palms, then I gently massage it into my skin, starting in the middle of my forehead and gliding my hands down the side of my face to my chin. 

Step 3. Next, I start on the bridge of my nose and move out to my ears. With the product that's left in my hands, I apply some on the skin above my lips.

Step 4: Don't forget your neck! Press the serum gently into the skin to ensure all-round hydration.

Want to know a beauty hack?

If I'm heading out at night after having applied foundation in the morning and I can't be bothered reapplying makeup, I warm a drop of serum in my palms, then gently press it into my cheeks and voila, my makeup looks instantly refreshed.

I also use this serum in place of a highlighter to add a bit of radiance to my cheek bones. You only need to dab a tiny amount along the cheek bones and it will give you a beautiful natural radiance.

What works well with this serum?

I have also added the Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex to my skin care routine.

Three weeks in, I can see that it has worked wonders in brightening the dark circles and puffiness under my eyes.

My hubby and I both use this eye cream. It's suitable for all skin types, so works well for my dry skin as well as his combination skin.

We both have jobs that require us to stare at a computer screen for many hours a day. We both love this supercharged eye cream as it helps to repair and prevent the damage caused by UV and blue light to the delicate skin around the eye area.

Although you could use any moisturisers with the Estee Lauder ANR, I have chosen to pair it with the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme + Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Creme for now.

Why? Because conveniently, it can be used morning and night which means I don't need two different moisturisers in the prime real estate of my bathroom cabinet.

My skin feels really hydrated and glowing with it. It also feels more resilient and as though it has more bounce and elasticity to it.

I also love its silky smooth texture of this moisturiser and it genuinely feels like such a luxury to massage this cream into my skin.

Would I recommend Advanced Night Repair to others?

Yes! I recommend this serum for everyone, whether you're a man or a woman, whether your skin is oily, dry, combination or sensitive.

Everyone's skin will show improvement with this face serum - it really is the best anti aging serum for 30s and beyond.

I acknowledge that at first glance, this serum appears expensive. 

However, when I have had brief flings with other products, I found that I was adding multiple serums to my skin care routine as one serum alone didn't address my concerns of dehydration, hyperpigmentation and aging. This not only lead to clutter in my bathroom cabinet, but the cost also added up.

Is Estee Lauder ARN worth the price?

A friend of mine who would normally find the price prohibitive, asked me "Does Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair really work?" She purchased a small bottle with our split payment systems such as Klarna, Afterpay and Zip and is now obsessed & a true believer.
